Spring Break Adventure

It was part of the deal.

At the beginning of the school year, when we realized that Pete's school district and the kid's school district all shared a week-long Spring Break, we started making plans. Top of the list was planning the twins' visit to their cousins during their stay in Australia. Once we realized it was more financially and psychologically prudent to split up with the kids, it was decided that Pete would take Harriet and Jack to Australia to see his sister's family, and I would take the little boys to visit family in Utah.

And while the boys were a bit sad at missing the chance to see their cousins, they were mostly bummed out at not having the chance to go on the airplane. So the deal became, for Spring Break they would go to Australia and we would go to Utah, but we would fly up.

Our grand adventure begins at the Orange County John Wayne airport:
Two travelers ready to go

In-flight snacks are the best, Sprite with Delta cookies.

Mom and the boys on the plane

Any snow on the ground in Utah
is eagerly anticipated by the boys,
and although it had
stormed in the days before our arrival,
all that was left at Grandma and Grandpa's was
this strip of snow surviving in the shade of the house
The boys still pull out the tobaggons and take several runs

We are able to spend one morning visiting my friend Karen
and her now 8-month-old twins!
Fraternal twins meet Irish twins.
Each set of boys is equally fascinated and entertained by the other

They also have a rambunctious blast with Karen's daughter
(she's nearly two years younger than Jed. same height.)

I get to hold the delicious Brown boys

while Karen makes this beautiful Caprese salad for our lunch

A spot of hail one afternoon gives
the kids some seasonal fun
- Jed slides around on the wet deck,
and CD and the boys have a hail-ball fight

Spence and Sarah create this how-to book, sure
to be in high demand.
(title: I want to be a Jed)

Decorating Easter Eggs with Grandma & CD and friend Harrison

(this way I don't have to mess up my own kitchen...)

Grandma and the boys bake and decorate an Easter cake one afternoon
it is dubbed "Easter Island"

HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER EVERYONE!
