(When I was a new mom living in Pasadena there was a group of women from our ward who would meet up together in the church cultural hall every Monday morning to scrapbook together. We paid a gal and her retired father in the ward to take our kids to the nursery and babysit them, while we would chat and scrap and chat for 2 - 3 hours. I learned a lot in those hours, about scrapbooking, about making a happy marriage, about parenting my newborn twins, about the other scrapbooking mothers (and yes, about other ward members!). I remember those mornings and those women very fondly.
I also remember one morning when two other women stopped by for a different reason, and encountered us as we were fervently engaged in our chatting and our scrapbooks, surrounded by the multitude of accompanying items, photos, paper, scissors, etc. When we encouraged them to join us, one of the women sort of sniffed and said "I think you can either live life, or you can scrapbook about it".
Well. I must say I disagreed with her then and disagree with her now. I've always felt that documenting mine and my family's activities, whether through photos and albums, videos, journal keeping, scrapbooks or blogging, is a very worthwhile and active part of living life.
That said I must admit it does seem that lately that we've been doing a lot more life living, and a little less documenting.)
Well that is changing with this post!
We've had a change in computer regime around here, and it has taken me some time to get used to the newer version of wonderful. And this spring has been crazy-busy, we have been living life, a lot of it. But now, the blog is back.
So what are we waiting for? Lets get started on the new season of The Richardson Family Raconteur.
When we last left off, Spring Break was coming to a close, and half of our family was coming back up from their week long visit down under. Pete and the twins had an amazing time in Sydney, and spending a whole week with Carrie and family and cousins seeing the sights and experiencing a slice of their Australian life was improved upon only by the fact that one week later, the Halls came to visit us here in California!
I have compiled a slideshow of photos from the trip, which (fingers crossed) will play out smoothly through the album below. Before you venture into that experience, I am going to add some links that, should you be so inclined, you can follow to learn a little bit more about some of the places and people touched upon in the photos.
(mom: click on the photo below to access the online photo album - at the top left hand side will be a green button and "slideshow" you can click it to see the slideshow, or just look through the photos manually)

(a brief explanation re: photo 57 - Jack's real name is John, and no, we didn't go all Utah on the spelling. The bridge climb people got it wrong.)

It looks like they had a great time! It was fab to get a postcard from Jack and Harriett - probably our first piece of handwritten mail at the new house. ;)
i agree. without the documentation, you don't remember. live it, and then prove it.
i loved the slideshow. can't wait to steal your photos :)
