Good Friday and Easter Sunday

April is nearly half over, and I feel like it just began! Spring break frenzy had something to do with that, I'm sure. But, before we get to Spring Break happenings around here, we'll take a look back at our Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Good Friday was indeed a good friday for Henry, his class took a field trip to:

The field trip was billed as a "science fieldtrip"
and we did spend about an hour learning about
pulleys, catapults and other mechanical stuff
using lego kits to build things and demonstrate ideas.

But the remainder of the several hours was free time for
the kids to run around and ride the rides and see the sights

I was in charge of Henry and two of his friends -
Pete has brought the kids here before, but this was
my first ever trip to Legoland.

We rode a couple of the rides but my favorite part
was walking through the United States done up in Legos-
White House and Washington D.C.

Lots of Las Vegas, including the MGM Grand Casino - so realistic!

Here's Mount Rushmore overlooking Manhattan
complete with Statue of Liberty and a Freedom Tower

There were a lot more including the Sydney Opera House
and the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
I recomend coming here yourselves to check it out. Very cool!

By the afternoon when we returned home I had a total
field trip hangover thanks to the 1 hour bus ride with
50 screaming second graders, so I am pleased when some
friends invite us over to the club to decorate Easter Eggs!

Jed decorated eggs inbetween jumps in the pool...
and no it wasn't that warm today!

Jed enjoying one of those eggs on Easter Sunday morning

the Easter bunny brought baskets with treats,
decorated eggs, and a book for everyone

Harriet took this artistic shot of the table
she set for our Easter morning brunch -
the pitcher is full of lemonade the boys squeezed
from lemons right off our tree this morning

Pete and Harriet put the finishing touches
on our yummy easter brunch

About mid-morning we open the front door
and realize that we've been "egged" for Easter!

some nice bunnies left us colored eggs
hanging in the front doorway filled with treats!

After cleaning up from brunch and
enjoying some conference talks
we start packing up to head
to Laguna Beach for our Easter
dinner with family. When we arrive in
Laguna we hear that there
was a 7.2 earthquake that hit
near the Mexican border while
we were driving - everyone felt
it but us! I feel a bit gypped....

However our Easter Dinner of ham and grilled steak
eaten on the back patio is delicious, and afterwards
we walk down to Riddle Field to throw around the
baseball and practice our lacrosse skills

Happy Easter everyone!

Great pictures. Looks like a fun Easter. I love the boys in the back of the truck. I spent a lot of time riding in the back of the old truck :)

And how great that Henry’s class had a Legoland field trip! Must not have as many cutbacks in your district? Very cool. I’ll have to go there some time.

Sounds like such a fun Easter weekend. I love the being "egged" idea. I'll have to try it.
