Easy Rider

While we were in Utah Henry reached a milestone he has been creeping up on for about a year now - he rode a two-wheeler all by himself with no human or mechanical help!  He's wanted to do this for some time now, Jed and Jack are master bike riders (as is Harriet although she doesn't take off and ride around the neighborhood like the boys do), and Henry has longed to jump on his bike and join them.  He has worked on and improved greatly riding a razor scooter and a skateboard, but due to some of his right side lower muscle tone, coordination and balance issues he has struggled with riding a two wheeler.

Peter has worked with him at home in California, and again in Utah in the parking lot of my former Junior High.  One late afternoon Henry gets on the bike, and with a bit of help and a boost of confidence, starts riding around all by himself!

The large church courtyard next door to grandma's, as well as the awesome array of bikes that my parents have accumulated for the grandkids, give Henry plenty of opportunities to hone his new skill during our visit.

Although he is still perfecting the art of the brakes,
you can see from this video that he is having a
great time and is quite proud of himself.

As are we.
