Scenes from a desert campout

At the tail end of spring break week the scout troop in our ward (along with many adults and some various other youth) went on a desert camp out to a dry lake bed in the Mojave desert.  One of the
draws of this particular camp out was the fact that they were taking many, many guns to practice
target shooting with.  Many were airsoft BB guns, but several adults also brought bonafide handguns
and rifles to shoot.  There was even a potato launcher brought along to complete the arsenal.
I was mostly comfortable with this because while Jack went up with the youth Thursday morning,
Pete joined him early Friday morning.

Together they did many manly desert camping activities such as
hiking, shooting range, roasting marshmallows and throwing things in the campfire, sleeping in
a tent (Pete only, Jack slept in the car), capturing and admiring wildlife (a snake and a tarantula),
running around with friends, and getting in some practice with a manual shift driving Pete's car.

Thursday morning dropping off the boys with all of their gear and stuff.  Boys were running
around shooting bb guns and the men were trying to organize all of the food, duffels, sleeping
bags, dune buggies, etc. etc. etc.

The other moms and I there just looked at each, rolled our eyes, and got back in our cars.

The first two photos are mine - the rest came from Pete and his iPhone.

They came home midday Saturday and Jack, of course, had an absolute blast.
