Disney Dream Cruise - Day at Sea

Day three on our Disney cruise is a day at sea, no ports of call today.
We don't actually cover enough ground (ocean?) during the entire cruise
that we need to spend a day at sea, but
it is a chance to enjoy the ship and its many activities, and to just relax and
enjoy the view. We spend our time doing all of these things, relaxing,
eating, exploring, hanging out, eating and taking part in various ship offerings.

We meet up with Sarah and Clara at Nemo's Reef for some water fun

Clara loves splashing in the water and we love watching her!

We eat lunch with them as well,
enjoying the big blue ocean stretching in all directions.

Around noon time our ship passes by Castaway Cay, Disney's
private island in the Bahamas, where we are scheduled to visit tomorrow.
Today the Disney Wonder is docked there.  Our Captain comes over the
loudspeaker and tells us that it is a rare chance for two Disney ships to
pass each other - so we stop and engage in a battle of the blow horns
with their ship.  Our signal call is the notes to
"When you wish upon a Dream" because we are the Disney DREAM!
It is fun to see them there in the middle of the ocean - and get
a glimpse of what awaits us tomorrow.

Jack with his first (?) soft serve of the day

Jack and Henry

Not long before we approach the island I am relaxing and watching the ocean
go by, and I see a whale! It is very cool, just floating along blowing its blowhole.
Definitely a highlight for me.  I didn't get any photos of it because I only have my
video camera and my iPhone couldn't capture it out in the water.
But I do get some great video.

There are many character appearances on the boat - Harriet made this photo collage
of encounters with some of her favorite Disney characters

Later in the afternoon we head down to 4 deck to hang out.  It is the closest you can get to the
water and also has an outdoor deck that runs around the entire boat.  It has deck chairs for
relaxing, and is also the location of the ship's jogging track.  The life boat pods that hang
only a foot or two above seem reassuring yet threatening all at the same time...
We see Pete on his daily run and cheer for him as he passes by.

Mickey Mouse seems to be everywhere you look

Souvenir shopping - Disney boat Krispy treat!

After some shopping we head up to the top deck to hang out with Spence
in the breeze - Jack enjoys his (number unknown) soft serve...

view of the pool(s) area, Aquaduct water slide, and the smaller
kid friendly yellow water slide

You can glimpse the bow of the ship here - it is the Teen club up
there so this is as close as we get

Porthole

Tonight is "Pirate Night" aboard the ship!  During turn down service
Budi leaves us a pirate kerchief for each person.

Family photo with the giant all-genuine Gingerbread House in the lobby -
it smells soooo good!

Dinner tonight is at the Garden Restaurant -
It is like eating in some person's garden conservatory as
the sun sets.  The light even changes to reflect this,
and the perimeter horizon looks like an actual sunset.

Mikhael pulls out all his tricks tonight - literally.
In addition to some awesome origami he
wows the kids with some magic tricks.

I love Jed's expression here!

There were several towel monkeys awaiting us when
we return to our room

Tonight's Broadway style show is the Villains show

Some of Disney's favorite Villains all on one stage!

After the show but before bed time we all assemble on the upper deck for the
one-of-a-kind Disney fireworks show in honor of Pirates in the Caribbean night.
Disney cruise ships are apparently the only ones sanctioned to have fireworks
on them - it was a pretty decent show and they had a whole little audio
program preceding it that was right out of the Disneyland ride, which was fun.

All in all it was a nice relaxing day at sea.

Tonight we set sail for Castaway Cay!
