Hair

I want to start posting about our summer trip to Utah, but I forgot my camera cord in Utah and thus am unable to import photos from my camera into my iPhoto, so those posts will have to be on hold until the cord arrives in the mail - thanks dad!

So until then I will feature one or two things we've done this summer before we left for our Utah vacation.

First up, summer haircuts.  The boys' hair has been too long for my taste for awhile now.  Jack and Pete heading off to a week at Scout Camp was the perfect excuse to pull out the shears and give everyone a buzz cut.  For us, there has really not been any in between - it's either too long, or it's buzz cut, or it's Growing Out.

We don't pay for salon haircuts very often for the guys in our family.  Pete will go to the Vietnamese shop where all hair cuts are $7 and there is usually a line when he wants to get his 'do neatened up.  I usually trim it and shave his neck in between visits.   We've started to take Jack there as he has started to care about things like how his hair looks.  So we've conceded to the trim for him at the salon.  The little boys still get the buzz cut every couple of months.

This time they resisted at first, but after Pete promised them that they could cut his hair if he could cut their hair, they relented.  Henry also came up with a special request, which was uniquely Henry.

So here, a look at our summer haircuts:

Henry "before"
and going under the buzzer

Capturing Jed mid-way through his cut -
when he saw this picture he said "That's my side-hawk"
(not unlike his shirt!)

Henry requested an Airbender Arrow be shaved
into his hair - Pete drew the outline on his head
and masterfully buzzed one out.
Henry assumes the Airbender pose.

Henry with hair arrow -
it only lasted about a week before it grew out,
but he got all kinds of positive attention for it.

Then it was Pete's turn,
and the kids had their fun:

So how did Jack’s haircut turn out ? I can’t believe Pete let the kids buzz his hair off! That is awesome. My kids would LOVE to shave Matt’s head! And, we are so copying Henry’s airbender ‘do. I think Bryson’s gonna do that this halloween :) Henry looked so awesome!

ps. I was with Pete when he bought that tshirt.
