Sunday, August 8th - Saturday was our last day in Salt Lake, we packed and shopped and in the evening went to dinner with Spence and Sarah at La-Cai Noodle House, a Vietnamese restaurant down on State street.  Delicious food and great fun, the place was quite popular and busy.  A nice way to spend our last evening in town, CD took the kids to the Salt Lake Bees game and they had a blast as usual.

Sunday early afternoon we headed out on the second leg of our journey, which was actually just getting back on the road, 1 -15 to be exact, and driving south toward St. George.  Driving up to Utah from CA we are usually in a happy hurry to arrive, and St. George is just a place to refuel and then be on our way.

On the way back to California we usually stop for a day or two to break up the trip and enjoy some time in the condo and the outlet stores.  We arrive in the late afternoon and decide that a hike would be the perfect family activity - the weather is overcast and not too hot, and the pool will feel even better afterwards.

St. George is surrounded by the beauty of southern Utah, and there are some perfect hiking spots all around.  Just a short drive from the condo are some giant rocks with hiking trails, overhangs, cliffs and man-made structures to explore.

Even as we exit the car there are a few rain drops starting to fall....

The kids find shelter in an overhang as the rain begins to pick up

We can see the bluer sky in the distant and wait for the rain clouds to pass over

Harriet spies a rainbow as the clouds start to clear up

With the rain over and the sun shining we really start exploring
