Recently Harriet and Jack's Middle school had its second after school (evening) dance -
black light and glow theme!

Glow Shirt How-To: One white shirt and two different colored glow sticks.
Break and shake glow sticks to activate glowiness, cut them open and splatter
glowing gunk all over white t-shirt. Find a semi-dark area to see full glow effect!
Harriet decided to skip the (loud!) dance,
but was happy to work design on Jack and his shirt,
using highlighter pens (on his skin)
and fluorescent nail polish (on the shirt)

After the dance Jack came home tired and happy,
with some extra glow sticks in hand

Cool! I don't blame Harriet for staying home though. My only memories of middle school dances are also that they were loud. And awkward.
