Morning for Moms

At La Madera, the Friday before Mother's Day has traditionally been a "Morning for Moms" - moms and their kids come to school early and are treated to breakfast together - cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, pastries, yogurt and juice. It is put on by the Boy Scout troop associated with the school and its nice to see the boys in uniform working hard to serve. Of course my kids usually spend exactly four minutes eating breakfast with me, then they are off running around with their friends before the bell rings, leaving us moms to chat and clean up.

My kids were out of bed at the crack of dawn ready to go, so we were there nice and early and had our pick of the pastries, as well as plenty of time to socialize with others in our own ways.
It was a gorgeous morning with good food and fun friends, and saved me from having to make breakfast! What could be better?

We did see a couple of dads there, despite the sign.

Daybreak with Dad, the father's equivalent, is held the friday
before Father's Day, which this year is the last friday before
school is out, and also the friday we will all be in Albuquerque
attending Pete's great uncle's (?) memorial service.

Twins approaching the breakfast -
friday is music so the saxophone and flute
are hauled to school.

Our principal manning the cereal station

See? I'm kind of awake! Eating with my boys
because Harriet didn't even sit down for four minutes
before she was off sitting with her friends.

Dining with our friends the Snyders
(she's also our YW president! see earlier post)

One quick photo when Harriet stops by -
me with all my kids, the luckiest mother in the world.

Happy Mother's Day!

That “no dads” sign is hilarious! Looks like a really good brekkie! Happy Mothers’ Day.
