My Mother's Day looked like this:
Homemade cards and gifts, flowers and some sweets.
Pete also made me a birdhouse that is hanging outside
my kitchen window, added some charms to my bracelet,
and took us out to lunch when our plan to meet
family in Laguna Beach had to be put on hold.
It also looked like this:

(click photo to enlarge, click again to really enlarge!)
Oversized reports on Ancient Civilizations, which is the big project due the day after Mother's Day for all of the sixth graders. This is their final project, a six page book featuring a report, pictures, maps, drawings and much more on a chosen topic. (did you know ancient olympians competed in the nude??) Jack and Harriet did all of the research, wrote all of the report, chose the pictures, traced the maps, compiled all the information and perfected the layout. I simply helped with the paper crafting on the inside and on the cover.
(and so what if Harriet's Mt. Vesuvius looks like a Hershey's kiss!)
Although they have known about and worked on the project for months, it of course comes down to the last day to get it all put together and perfected. But by 10:00 Sunday evening every photo was in place, all of the glue was dry and they were ready to go! A special shout-out goes to CD and the photos she sent of her visit to Pompeii a few years ago. They worked great in the report! The reports will be on display at Back-to-School night when it will be fun for me to go and see all the work that the other kids (and their parents :-)) have done. I love being a mother!

No I didn’t know they competed nude! That would make it hard to sprint, having to hang on to your you know whats!
Anyway, the reports look amazing and I’m now craving a Hershey’s kiss. Great job J & H! And I can’t wait to see the charms you’ve gotten for your bracelet :)
