Jack, like his brothers, has long been bitten by the Lego bug.

I too am a fan of Legos for my kids, and love to watch them build and create for hours with them.

They are, however, not cheap. And there is no end to the new sets that my kids seem to think that they need. Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego City have been among their favorites.

So when Jack recently needed an, um, incentive to play one more season of Little League he offered up the Lego Death Star, a set he has been coveting online for quite some time now. A $400 set, I should add.

We countered with this:

(a bargain at a mere $100)

He was receptive, and soon he and Pete were off to Target.

Jack loves sticking to the sets, building them and then (usually futilely) trying to preserve them intact for future play. Unfortunately they usually end up looking how they started, a pile of bricks. Jack decided he wanted to document his building of the Lego Pirate ship to submit to the Primary Talent Show, and borrowed my camera to do so.

Here's a sneak preview:

opening night - packets of pirate potential

start with the small stuff

any Lego devotee worth his salt knows that its much about the mini figures -
and Lego knows it as well - many times a coveted 60$ set is wanted mostly
for the Boba Fett figure inside, which is only available in that set, of course.

progress the first night - now go to bed!

after school the second day

putting on the finishing touches that evening

c'est fini!

Master Lego Builder Jack and his latest creation.

Play Ball!
